BSRI Needs Volunteers

BSRI relies very heavily on the generosity of volunteers to assist our staff in meeting the community needs. The donation of time and talents are very important in achieving the goal of our mission. Volunteers offer immeasurable resources that extend our services by delivering Meals-On-Wheels to homebound participants, guiding Medicare recipients through Part D choices as Seniors’ Heath Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) certified counselors, conducting instructional or educational class time, supporting the operating of our Thrift Store in Calabash, and all sorts of other invaluable support within our many programs and facilities. All volunteers donating their time to services requiring their personal vehicle are eligible for mileage reimbursement or given the opportunity to claim their mileage as an income tax deduction governed by IRS regulation.

Anyone interested in offering to volunteer in any capacity is encouraged to  complete the secure Online Volunteer Application found below. The BSRI Volunteer Coordinator will respond by contacting you to discuss needs throughout the agency and options available for offering your time and talents. Additionally, background screening will be conducted and Volunteer orientation will be scheduled to complete the registraton process.  BSRI has many locations and needs of which volunteerism is welcomed and appreciated.

You may also contact the local Senior Center near you or call Sarah Powell, Volunteer Coordinator at (910) 754-2300 extension #1022 with any questions regarding volunteer opportunities.
